What to Expect During your Newborn Session
Where will the session take place?
Newborn and baby milestone sessions take place in our in home studio, located in Shippensburg Pa. We can provide a consistent atmosphere with controlled lighting and temperature that is conducive to creating beautiful posed images of your baby. We are If you are unable to come to our studio but would desire a posed session, we would be happy to arrange to come to your home.
When should I take newborn photos?
Babies are the most sleepy and easy to pose for the first two weeks of life, so we recommend scheduling a session in that time frame. We are still happy to photograph older babies, however they may not be able to hold the same poses.
What time are sessions scheduled for?
We love to capture your baby sleeping peacefully. Babies tend to sleep the best in the morning, so we schedule our session starting from 9:00 to 11:00. We do our newborn sessions on weekdays.
How long will my session be?
It takes 2-4 hours depending on how baby settles into poses for a posed session.
What will I need to do during the session?
We will ask you to give the baby a thorough feeding and diaper change at the beginning before we start. We may also need to stop for the baby to eat anytime during the session if need be. You won’t need to help with the photography. We would like the session to be relaxing and enjoyable for parents.
What do I need to bring for in-studio sessions?
For the baby: extra diapers, wipes, and be prepared to feed baby
Mom: Outfit change, touch up makeup, something to read if you want during the session
Dad: Outfit change, reading material
Siblings: Outfit change, snacks, and something to keep them occupied. There will also be some toys available at the studio.
Do I need to bring props?
We have an assortment of baskets, tubs, wraps, headbands, wraps etc. to choose from. We also love to incorporate elements in your images that are meaningful to you. Please bring any props that personalize the photographs.
What happens if the baby cries the whole session?
Our client’s satisfaction with the whole photography experience is our top priority. It is also important to us to follow the baby’s cues. In the situation where we were not able to get very many images because the newborn is unhappy or unsettled, we will be happy to schedule another session free of charge
